Freeway driving

The miEv absolutely sucks so much power on the freeway, a 30 mile trip drained the battery down to about 30% , luckily I was able to charge at destination so making it back was fine, though we took hwy 99 which has lights and a lower speed limit, didn't even use 25% on the way back. Looks like the car will be restricted to city driving and only short transit on the freeway. I can't believe the thing gets about double the mileage on city streets. Good to know.

I am unstoppable!

I finally received my semacharge and chargepoint access cards, I can now access both those networks for free juice both by my work and near my house. Semacharge is kind of great because they are adding them to Walgreens, best buy, and maybe target? Anyway, I should be able to put off getting a 240 volt charging setup at my house until winter at least. I may just see how long I can survive on the free electricity, though feel skimping out on paying for electricity is the epitome of cheapness. A full charge from zero is $2.40, that will cart me around town for a good 70 miles or more. I strongly believe if they can get the range to 150-200 miles , electric cars will sell like hot cakes. Invest now or pay later! I'm starting to buy stocks in lithium production companies, and companies that are building EV infrastructure. Think about it, if you could have bought stock in Exxon when the share price was 65 cents! Tired of blogging on an iPad for now.

2nd day of zero emission commuting is underway. So far almost every person I work with has taken a spin around the block in the miEV. Everyone reacts similar "OMG is it on?" and they say things like the car is "surprisingly zippy" .

I made sure I took surface streets on the way in and the computer kept re-calculating my range display, adding miles as I went because I was doing such a good job of staying in "ECO" mode , which was definitely not the case yesterday.

The freeway is the big range killer. I feel like I just watch those battery bars drop like crazy when on the freeway. I'll stay away from that until I get chargepoint card and can juice up for free by my work.

It's mine! Finally!

After battling for an hour past the extra extra warranty and denying it all so that they don't make an additional $2500 off of me, I was able to escape with my keys. On the way home, the buyer's remorse started to sink in. OMG! What am I doing! This thing is so expensive. :(

Though, after going home and plugging it into the wall, I realized that everything is going to be fine. I have my own fueling source. Once I get this sucker paid off, I have essentially free transportation that doesn't pollute.

Looking good, you sexy beast of a car you. I think I am going to call the car ninja. Ninja is a silent, sneaky killer.

Almost have it!

I'm really on pins and needles now. The car is in, and they are "running it through safety" , whatever that means. I just had to read some more about the radical car I am about to get to hold me over. I found out that because the car is so silent, it emulates and engine noise on the outside to warn people that there is a car driving up. I really hope there is a button to disable that, my dream of being a parking lot silent ninja will be lost.

Well, I am sitting here, counting down the hours until they have my Mitsubishi i - miEV ready.

I chose black because it makes it look a lot less like a weird space craft. I mean, it still looks like something from another planet somewhat, but I can live with it in black. If any suckas' try to mock me, I'll blast them with my space beams.

I received the call from Younker (the dealership) telling me that the car would be ready either today or within the next 4-5 days. I guess they are just trying to not get my hopes up?

I have been eyeing charging stations both near my home and also near work. Finding free juice is going to be my new favorite hobby I think. I also stumbled upon a program with the department of energy that hints at programs providing FREE home chargers.

I am excited to start this blog about my experiences with the i . When I was researching the vehicle I didn't really see anything like this on the web. Not really any blogs by electric car owners. I think this is a great idea to share my experience and help other people get on board the electric wagon.
